THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE LIBERATOR WORLD

Whereas all the action of Worldshaker takes place on board a single juggernaut, the action of Liberator spreads out over the wider world. We get to see the other great juggernauts and the surrounding geography and environment. Here's a map of the route taken by Liberator after the Filthies gain control.

The great battle at the end of the book isn't given a name in Liberator. It involves not only Liberator (which used to be called Worldshaker), but also the Austrian juggernaut, Grosse Wien, which has pursued Liberator all the way from Botany Bay; the Russian juggernaut, Romanov, which has immobilised Liberator and brought it to bay; and the recent arrivals, the immense French juggernaut, Marseillaise, and the smaller Turkish juggernaut, Battle of Mohacs.

botany bayBotany Bay coaling station is a key scene. In our world, the Botany Bay area is now part of Sydney - the main port area, in fact, south of the CBD. In the alternative history of the juggernaut world, the 19th colony of Australia never developed; deprived of resources and support from the Old Country (Great Britain) during the Fifty Years War, it shrank to the status of a depot, servicing and refueling juggernauts.

The same thing happened to other colonies around the world while the European powers were locked in the unbelievably destructive struggle of the Fifty Years War. Instead of taking control of whole continents, they have been reduced to seaboard ports and depots, especially coaling stations for the juggernauts that now roam the globe. Here's a map of the most important ones -
